FOR NATURE

FOR US

Illegal wildlife trade has affected all of us. It’s time to put a stop to it.

STOP WILDLIFE TRAFFICKING AND PROTECT OUR HEALTH

✅ I want to help stop online wildlife trafficking in online marketplaces

When nature is not protected, it puts our health, well-being, economies, food security, clean air and water sources at risk.

We need to confront the environmental drivers of pandemics by engaging businesses and governments to stop illegal wildlife trade.

What does it mean to you as an individual?

Consumers have the power to influence market demand. With your help, we can get businesses on board and work towards a real solution. Let us know your favorite online store and we will work with them to prevent illegal wildlife product listings on their platform.

How does this affect you? your family? your friends? your loved ones?

A zoonotic disease is a disease that jumps from animals—wild or domestic—to humans. These jumps, known as spillovers, are increasingly common. Every year, 3-4 new outbreaks of zoonotic disease occur around the world. As habitats get destroyed, wildlife species are put into more regular contact with each other and humans. This lets microbes easily jump between species and new diseases to emerge.

Zoonotic diseases are a stark reminder of how people and nature are interconnected. To protect people from zoonotic disease, we must address the key, human-led drivers that put us at risk.

WILDLIFE

Plastics pose a serious threat to animals — they may inadvertently ingest or become entangled in plastic litter.

In fact, abandoned or discarded fishing gear (commonly referred to as ghost gear) is among the deadliest forms of marine plastic debris. It can continue to catch target and non-target species indiscriminately for many years, and many animals that get caught or entangled in ghost gear can die a slow and painful death through suffocation or exhaustion.

Donate here to combat plastic pollution, remove ghost gear, and create a safer habitat for our wildlife.
